April 2010
Dear Seniors Families,
You are likely aware that plans are well under way for the 14th annual Grad Nite Live, the all-night alcohol-and drug-free celebration for Marshfield High School graduates to be held on June 5th, 2010. Statistics indicate that prom and graduation season can be the riskiest time of the year for teenagers and Marshfield is no exception. Grad Nite Live is a community attempt to offer our graduates a night they will always remember, together as a class, in a place where they can have fun as well as feel and be safe. Critical to the event’s success is your financial support and we feel your child is worth it.

Expenses for the event are close to $25,000. Approximately 20% of senior families have contributed to the event to date. Grad Nite Live costs approximately $65- $70 per graduate. Some of that cost is defrayed by community contributions, but we still need your help. We ask that each family contribute to the best of your ability. We understand that these are tough economic times. The important factor is not what, but rather that you contribute. To those who have already donated, please accept our heartfelt thanks.
Please keep in mind; this is not a ticket to the event, Grad Nite is a gift to the class as a whole. More than 85% of the class members participated in the past five years, which means your grad will likely want to attend!
Grad Nite Live is organized by volunteers from every segment of our community who support us with time, talent, financial and material donations.
Guidelines & Info
Commencement is almost upon us and we wish to take this opportunity to congratulate you on your “soon to be” accomplishment. Each of us with Grad Nite Live, echo the warm feelings of the entire community and take pride in your graduation as a community.
For the 14th year in a row, the community of Marshfield extends an invitation to each member of Marshfield High’s graduating class to the all night celebration that is Grad Nite Live. The following are rules and guidelines designed to make the night an enjoyable and safe experience for each member of the Class of 2010.
- Community Preview - 7:00 to 9:00 PM, Saturday, June 5th. The entire community is invited to preview the Grad Nite Live creations and transformation of the high school.
- Graduate Arrival & Check-in -11:00 PM to 12:00 AM, Saturday, June 5th. Grad Night Live is an alcohol, smoke and drug free event. Please do not arrive under the influence … you will be turned away. Each graduate must consent to a breathalyzer test and “pat-down” to gain admittance. No alcohol or substance abuse will be tolerated during the event. The entrance to Grad Nite Live is at the rear of the high school building (cafeteria entrance).
- Personal Item Check-in. All items (handbags, umbrellas, jackets etc … please avoid bulky clothing) will be checked and stored in a secure area. They will be available to you upon request and your access to them will be monitored.
- Family Notification. Upon arrival at Grad Nite Live, your families will be notified by telephone that you have in fact arrived safely. We ask that families be aware that phone calls will be made between 11:00 PM and 12:00 AM and that someone is available to take the call.
- Leaving Grad Nite “Early”. Those who wish to leave Grad Nite Live before 5:00 AM will be required to check in at the Nurses Office. A member of the Grad Nite staff will contact your family for their authorization. No graduate will be allowed to leave without family permission to do so.
- Fun! Above all, Grad Nite Live is a celebration. During the night we ask that you enjoy yourself and your classmates. The festivities will include: a Casino, Food Court, Dancing, Hair Salon, Nail Salon, “Tattoo” Artists, Psychics, Massage Chairs, Caricature Artists, Courtyard Access, Movie Studio, Gym Access and Inflatables. We hope to have a few surprises as well.
- Stay All Night! Those graduates that stay all night are eligible for prizes that include cash, electronics, gift certificates and more. Prizes are awarded just prior to departure in the cafeteria area.
- Departure – 5:00 AM, Sunday, June 6th. Grad Nite Live wraps up at 5:00 AM. Please be sure to pick up your Grad Nite Live T-shirt. Traditionally, the families of graduates begin to arrive at the school around 5:30 AM to break down the decorations, sets and displays. We’ve been up all night and we’re really tired. Your assistance is greatly appreciated.
